Albania and Macedonia signed The Tourism Cooperation Memorandum, in Skopje, Macedonia on 26th March 2014. For the Albanian party, the agreement was signed by the General Director of National Agency of Tourism, Ms. Julinda Dhame, which was very enthusiast to this initiative in the presence of its Macedonian counterpart, considering as a first step towards a closer cooperation and mutual work to promote neighboring Balkan countries as a joint touristic package on tour fairs or through various activities.
Meanwhile, NTA has also participated in the workshop held in Skopje on 25-26 March 2014, with the theme "Building Macedonia's Adventure Tourism Market: A two - day workshop to Build Knowledge and Skills".
During the workshop, emphasis was placed on the importance of adventure tourism, which according to a study it’s a business that in recent years has had an annual growth of 26 %. The organizers of this event, ATTA (Adventure Travel Trade Association) and USAID gave several examples for creating favorable conditions for the development of this type of tourism. This workshop was also useful in the contacts sharing and the discussions that were held. It was agreed that representatives of ATTA have to undertake a familiarization tour in the country with some of their members, to explore potential environments of Albanian adventure tourism, in order that in the future to address the more adventurous tourists from other countries of the world, in the mountains or natural places of Albania.
